Join FCBC again at Fresno’s 5th Annual World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims sponsored by the City of Fresno Active Transportation Advisory Committee (ATAC) and our community partners on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Woodward Park.

World Day of Remembrance is a global commemoration established by the United Nations to honor the lives lost to traffic violence and to call for safer streets for all. Each year, families of victims, policymakers, advocates, and community members gather to remember, support, and take action to prevent future tragedies.

This year, as of July 31, 2026, we had lost six (6) pedestrians and one bicyclist in Fresno amid 2,218 total collisions, in comparison to the 13 lives lost during same period last year. We need continued leadership to send a powerful message of the City’s commitment to the safety of all road users, particularly with the recent adoption of the Vision Zero Action Plan and the need to implement effective countermeasures to reduce severe crashes and fatalities on our roadways.

Event Details:

 Saturday, November 14, 2026
 11:00 AM
Park Gazebo Shelter at Woodward Park

Program Highlights:

● Opening & remembrance by victims’ families and advocates

● Support & action remarks from community leaders and elected officials

● Policy calls to action, including development and adoption of a City traffic victim memorial marker program and funding for the Vision Zero Action Plan task force to implement targeted road safety improvements, specifically, effective countermeasures to address high priority locations on the city’s high injury network, as identified in the Vision Zero Action Plan.

● Bike ride around the park, and memorial walk to locations of crashes at the intersections of Friant Road at Fort Washington Road, Shepherd Avenue and at Audubon Drive.

Your support and participation at this event would mean a great deal to the families who have lost loved ones and to the many residents who walk, bike, and drive in our city every day.
