March 2020

In the Midst of the Pandemic

The entire world is responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, with travel curtailed, schools closed, and gatherings postponed or canceled.  Social distancing of a minimum of six feet is being advised. Many local group bike rides have been canceled. The California Classic event that was to be held in Fresno on April 3 is canceled and will not be rescheduled.  Many people are avoiding taking mass transit and going to the gym, but for the most part bicycling remains a safe activity when done individually to get around and get exercise. Remember to wash your hands frequently throughout the day and avoid touching your face.

Fresno Chinese New Year Parade on March 7

Chinese New Year was celebrated in Fresno Chinatown on March 7 with booths and a parade that included the traditional lion dance and firecrackers.  FCBC provided bike valet and gave out bicycle helmets and lights. Thanks to all the volunteers who supported the effort.

Next Board Meeting

The next FCBC Board meeting is being made into a virtual meeting to ensure that participants feel safe and comfortable.  The meeting will be held on Thursday, March 19 beginning at 5:30 pm. Everyone is welcome to join the teleconference. If you would like to participate, please send an email to info@fresnobike.org, and the call-in number and login information will be sent to you.  Topics will include the Earth Day Fresno event scheduled for April 25 between 10 am and 4 pm in Radio Park and Bike Month activities, which may be postponed in the wake of the pandemic.

Please be safe out there and take all necessary precautions.
